Another great stay
The staff at the Holiday Inn Messe continues to impress me. I just stopped in for another one night stay as I had an overnight layover in Zurich over the weekend. This time, as I was walking up to the reception desk to check in, I was greeted by name before I even said hello. When I checked out in the morning, the restaurant staff recognized me and engaged in some pleasant conversation about my recent travels. I am so much looking forward to my next visit to this same property in a couple weeks where I will be staying for a full week.

Extremely Disappointing Stay
Extremely Disappointing Stay – Not What You Expect from an IHG Property (especially since we are a Platinum member)
The room lacked both air conditioning and even a basic ventilation system, resulting in unbearably stuffy and sleepless nights. We had no choice but to keep the windows open for all three nights—something I’ve never encountered at an IHG property before.
When we raised our concerns, staff provided inconsistent and often misleading explanations. Each person had a different story, making it difficult to trust any of the responses. At one point, we were simply told to “open the windows and sleep”—an unacceptable solution for any hotel, let alone one claiming to be 4-star. We were also given an explanation involving some “Zurich regulations” that supposedly require room temperatures to be lower than the outside temperature. Ironically, the room was consistently hotter than the outside at all times—a clear failure to meet even that excuse.
When we pressed the matter further, the front office duty manager told us we were free to move to another hotel and she could process a refund. While this acknowledged the issue, it was an impractical suggestion given the difficulty of securing alternate accommodation at short notice. More importantly, it confirmed there would be no meaningful resolution during our stay.
The overall staff behavior was underwhelming—largely indifferent and disengaged. Even in the breakfast area, no one approached us for coffee or offered basic assistance, which is a standard expectation in most hotels.
To add to the discomfort, there is major construction happening right outside the hotel. If you’re staying on a weekday and are forced to open your windows due to the lack of ventilation, be prepared for loud and disruptive noise throughout the day.
The hotel’s location is average, with not much in the immediate vicinity. However, it is well connected by tram, bus, and train, which is perhaps the only positive aspect of our stay.

CONCERT ONE MINUTE FROM THE HOTEL.. fabulous!
Excellent place 1 minute from the east entrance of Hallenstadion but zero noise!!!!!
Very efficient staff even at 6 am: I was really saved by the night concierge and the cleaning manager ..
New and spotless hotel; Exceptional breakfast also takeaway (they made us find it at 5:30 in the morning!)
Strongly suggested!

OUR STAY IN ZURICH
This was the best hotel we stayed in during our trip to europe that included cities like Orleans, Madrid, Paris, Florence, and Rome. The facilities were excellent, the breakfast quality and variety superb, rooms were really clen and comfortable it is just a great option to stay.

Great Hotel
Large comfortable room with a refrigerator, coffee and a fan!! Hotel also has ice machine. Service was very good and the breakfast was very nice
