Well priced budget accommodation
I have stayed here many times - it is one of the best budget accommodations in Hong Kong, much safer and of a better standard than any of the guesthouses located in the Chungking Mansions. Rooms are small but as the previous reviewer has stated you don't go to HK to stay in your hotel room. If you want to enjoy HK hotel facilities be ready to pay up to four times the amount you would pay here. Situated in the heart of Kowloon and within 20 minutes walking distance of Tsim Tsa Shui and Mongkok, it has to be one of the most central budget hotels on the Kowloon side. The MRT is only a 5 minute walk away and the Temple Street market starts directly behind the building.
The beds are comfortable and the rooms are equipped with a TV, a DVD player and air conditioning. The bathroom is small with the shower over the toilet bowl so it makes for a tight squeeze when showering (well at least you can sit down) - in saying this thou this is standard in Hong Kong. There is also a communal fridge in the foyer where guests can store their drinks, etc.
Situated below the guesthouse in the same building is the Jade Restaurant - a Hong Kong style tea house that is opened all day and is one of the best cheap eats that I have found on my journeys to Hong Kong, for a more formal or premium dining experience there is the Federal Palace Restaurant (2 minutes walk away from the guesthouse) situated on Nathan Road. It serves (in my opinion) the best Yum Cha dishes for lunch and top quality dishes for dinner.
Overall, my experience at the guesthouse has always been pleasant, if you are on a budget and don't mind not having all the amenities of a four star hotel this place is for you.

The worst accommodation I've stayed at!
The rooms are tiny, and the window-less room feels like being in a jail cell. At the very least the place is clean, but its definitely not worth staying. Pay a little more and stay at a hotel! Finally to make things worse, I was bitten by bed-bugs on my last night which I had to suffer for the next two weeks!

Location, clean and value for money!
H.K star guesthouse is by far the cleanest guesthouse I have stayed in so far. As a frequent traveller to Hong Kong, it is important to find a place that is safe clean and affordable, h.k star ticks all of these boxes. Located on nathan rd and literally across from famous night market temple st and walking distance for the world famous mong kok district where you will find the trendiest fashion and latest gadgets. you will not have to venture far for food as the guesthouse is in the centre of a food district, filled with restaurants serving local and international cuisines from Italy and spicy curries from pakistan and even hawker stalls for the brave. Public transport is readily available with 2 MTR train stations within 800m and a wide selection of bus routes to take u where you want. Oh and they have free wifi !!!!!

Excellent
I've stayed at the H.K. Star Guest House six times over several trips to Hong Kong. The rooms are exceptional value for money, and kept clean with regular, daily service. They are perhaps a little on the small side, but one doesn't go to Hong Kong to sit in one's hotel room all day. Some noise is to be expected as the building is right on Nathan Rd., but the upside is that the location is right in the heart of Kowloon. The Temple St. market is literally downstairs, and it's no exaggeration to say that some of the best food in all of Hong Kong can be found within a radius of a few hundred metres. Taxis can be hailed within a minute or so, and MTR subway stations are a 5 minute walk either way along Nathan Rd. Very much recommended.
